No recent mobility problem, I drive, I have a scooter and have a bicycle and I love to walk.

The older I get, the more worn out my body feels. I have a harder time with my legs, arms and muscles. So I think when it comes to transportation, something different that can be for older people would be to get in and out of the car can be made easier,  I don’t know if it can be a seat that lifts up and moves out and helps you getting in and out of the car. I think something like this would be really cool.

I am very mobile, I don’t feel limited in any kind of way, I can go up and down the stair and I can access to all the things I have to access in the house and no boundaries, no limitation. As we are growing older, we are thinking of building a new house and there we definitely think about how mobile we will be in 10 or 20 years and what could be the possible limitations, so we have to plan accordingly.

I bought a motorcycle at 55 so I think I am a little bit different than most people. With age and pain in my knees, it is difficult to get in and out of the car in the morning. That’s why I drive my truck a lot and sometimes motorcycle is even easier than that getting into a lower car.

I am finding that the older we get, the more careful we have to be while walking like with rugs. We have to be careful about the shoes or slippers we wear.  We cannot go barefoot anymore because of our age.  We need some support.

With getting older, recovery from doing physical work is difficult and time-taking and I know I am not as limber as I used to be.

Jinandar, India male 55

I drive a car with manual gear system. It becomes tiring after a certain period of time. My knees start to ache. Since we have a lot of traffic, it is difficult to keep changing gears all the time and hence commute. Also, we don’t have good public transport here so I have to take my car.

Nigeria female 65

With age, my use of transport has changed. Previously, I could use bus and taxis but now I feel soreness or ache afterwards sometimes. This is sometimes due to the actual vehicle or sometimes it’s the driver who is not smooth and the roads are not helping either. So most of the time, we are going up and down the potholes and its very stressful.
